Some practical Tips using the disk

1. Firstly see SecchiDisk.org for guidelines on using the disk & their smartphone App.

2. It is important to achieve a vertical deployment of the disk so the boat should be stationary. If you find that wind or current causes the deployed disk to wander away from or under your boat then here are some suggestions:

   • Increase the weight attached below the disk

   • In coastal waters deploy your boat's anchor

   • If you have an outboard motor you could move the boat in the direction of the drifting disk but, if maneuvering, take care not to get the tape tangled in the propeller!!

3. After use:
   • store the disk where nothing is resting on the disk causing it to bend
   • keep the disk out of sunlight - vinyl can deform when subjected to heat
   • Back in the dock/marina wash down the tape measure with fresh water
